Leaving my apartment

On Friday I moved the last of my things from my Weehawken, NJ apartment, just one of the necessary changes while in recovery mode. The day prior I needed two blood transfusions, platelets only. I keep trying to tell myself to be patient with all this, just feels sort of surreal the rate at which things can change. Once again thank you all who donate blood, I would be screwed without you…

I'm Matt Sheehan. In July 2009, I learned that I was suffering from a disease called aplastic anemia. What exactly caused it I may never know. What I do know is that for the next few years, I will endure thousands of hospital hours and the bureaucracy and confusion of the U.S. health care industry. I'd like to share my story.
